Hello. For the past two weeks my sister was having pelvic area pain. The pain then radiated to her back and thighs. After the pain moved to her back and thighs that is when she wanted me to take her to the emergency room. We were forced to go to the emergency room instead of scheduling an appointment with a physician because she does not have health insurance.

They checked her urine for various diseases and infections -- nothing alarming showed up. They gave her a pelvic examination, and whatever happened during that did not give them any cause for concern. They sent in a culture to the lab to check for various STDs. She received the results today, but they said legally they can not tell her what they mean. In the meantime she is still experiencing the pelvic area pain that has now radiated to the whole of her legs. Does anyone know what this could be? We still do not have a diagnosis.

  • She received the results today, but they said legally they can not tell her what they mean. She should try to find out as much as she can from the doctor who did the original tests. I suggest asking more questions.Did she get the results in writing, or just verbally. If she did not get them in writing, she could ask for them in writing. Then see if she can find another doctor to tell her what they mean.If all else fails, get another doctor to do tests.

A doctor from the same ER we went to several days before just called her yesterday and told her it was some type of bacterial infection. He recommended that she take three types of prescriptions. We do not have insurance and so he told her to come back to the ER and to ask for him so that she could obtain the prescriptions. The thing is they would charge her another 2-3 grand. So she said she wants to wait to schedule an appointment when we obtain insurance.Right now, after subbing in the classroom of a sick kid, she said she is experiencing body aches and chills. I am scared. She still hasn't obtained all those antibiotics.
