I am 41 y/o, recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and CFS. Over the past year I have been suffering from a variety of unexplainable bacterial infections of which on 3 occasions have been admitted into the hospital. Apparently I have yet another infection and I'm getting nowhere. Three weeks ago I began showing all of the symptoms of parotitis. I went to my family physician who suspected a stone as well. She started me on a round of Cleocin for 10 days. (I had just finished taking Keflex for Cellulitis). Some of the swelling subsided; however, only somewhat. The area is still considerably swollen, very painful, and now there is a tingling / partial numbness going down the jawline. The swelling is much worse in the mornings when I get up.
I went to an ENT last week who only said to give it a few more days, continue moist heat, push fluids, and relax. I've done this and there is absolutely no change. Outside of that he was very quick to brush me off.
What do I do?? Is it possible that its something more than just parotitis?
