I am having problems with metformin and pancreatic discomfort, also major exhaustion and low pulse and temperature. HB1 shows as 6.4 so it is controlling blood sugar but making me feel dreadful at the same time. GP singularly unhelpful. Any suggestions

  • Have a TH3 of 3.9 and rising and all the symptoms of thyroid malfunction but no antibodies. Have since stopped metformin having a new diagnosis!! of insulin intolerance and ?metabolic disorder but still canoot get through the treatment of Thyroid as TH3 is still too low. In Americ they would have treated at 2.5 to 3 but not over here. Thanks for the response Still gives me doubt in the Doc

  • The treatment for metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance includes dietary modification and weight loss. (Also evaluation for high cholesterol and hypertension) Most endocrinologists (physicians who specialize in thyroid disorder) will treat patients with symptoms of underactive thyroid-fatigue, weight gain, etc. with thyroid hormone if the TSH test is in the upper half of the normal range or above 3. The higher the TSH -the more underactive the thyroid is-good luck!
