I have had this pain under my right rib for 10 years or more. It would come and go. My mid back will also hurt all the time. The two pains almost feel related. I have had a CT scan done and several liver function tests and they come back fine. I just had an ultra sound done to check the liver and gall bladder and pancreaus "spelling" and they said they all looked fine also. I then had one of those nuclear Xray HIDA done to check to see if the gall bladder was working right. They said it was 96%. Now I do have a bad disc in my low back but I wouldn't think that would give me the pain in the right side. I do get some pain in my abdomen on the left side from the disc. Any idea what I should have checked next? I'm really tired of this pain all the time under my right rib and mid back. Could I have another bad disc in my mid back causing the pain in the right side of my rib?

  • I had some liver issues that caused exactly that kind if pain... The pain under the ribs is more constant, but the pain in the back is worse when it is present. You say your liver enzymes are normal, but are they high normal? Mine were. Lecithin fixed me up... Triple strength if you can find it. You need to take several every day. Once I found the Lecithin was helping, I switched to polyunsaturated lecithin (PPC), brand names "PhosChol" and "HepatoPro", or Essentiale Forte or Lipostabil/oral if you are in Europe. I only need on a day of PPC.It takes about a month before you notice it's working but it really helped me. Very good for you too... No side effects. Hope this helps.
