I dont know if this is kidney or what.
Quite often lately I experience a horrible dull pain in my left side, kinda back toward the kidney area. It will last most of the day,...dull, achey, almost like a charlie-horse that is not in full bloom yet. I need to stretch, and massage, it is the only comfort, but oh so temporary. I thought it was my kidneys, so I began drinking more water. Seemed to be ok, for a few days, but today its back with a vengence. I almost feel like something inside is gonna blow!!! Hurts, and seems so "non-specific" that I dont want to go to the ER cuz they will condescend to me and send me home with vicodine or something equally unrelated to the issue.
Its kinda scarey today, really hurts, like a charlie-horse that is ready to go into full spasm any minute,........yet doesn't.
This is a relatively new symptom.(only last couple of months) it is hit and miss. After today, it maybe a few days before it comes back. But each time I get it, it seems to be a little stronger that the days before.
I do have hepatitis c and have already treated, and have now been done with tx since last august. I dont think they are related, but then again, what do I know. Is this just another "thing" I gotta learn to live with? I am tired of it. It effects my whole being.

Thanks for any input.

  • Don't go to the emergency room then. You can make an appointment with an Internist and they will need to run a battery of tests to determine what it is. It could be kidneys, your intestines; it could be adrenals, it could be the man in the moon visiting your insides. Good grief. See a doctor. The earlier you seek treatment, the changes of recovery are greater than if you wait for a crisis.

  • I guess the main reason I came here instead of going to a doc is due to the fact, I dont have insurance at all (cant afford it) and with something so non-specific, I cant go the "Battery of tests" road. Good Grief.I know I could do that, and if I had insurance I would have done that,..........and then I wouldn't have needed to post this.Have a great weekend...............................................................

  • There are reduced or free clinics in almost every state. Check into it and see what the requirements are and what documents you need to bring in as proof. In my town in Ariozna, you would only pay $10. In Colorado Springs, I only paid $10, too, without insurance. The pain might be a side effect of your HepC meds. Look up the side effects online and see if there is a relationship. It could also be your intestines and you would need to see a specialist for him to check that out to rule out any condition there. It sounds like kidney or side effects from the RX, whatever you took. You could try acupuncture and see if you get any relief, but I think you need to find a doctor who charges "according to income".

  • My post was last resort, last ditch attempt to figure it all out.I have already done "extensive research" into what sx interpheron, riba, procrit can cause, both the immediate, and long term. Docs vary in their opinions.I have had hyda scans and numerous other things done. HepC is an insidious disease, and can mask itself through a variety of ailments, both specific and non specific.I also have a lump on my wrist that "just appeared" overnight, and it been with me now for over 6 months. When I move my hand I feel as if someone was putting a cigarette out on my wrist. Now I have actually had people tell me that sounds like arthritis, except they forget the key clue here. This appeared literally overnight, almost like an injury, but it's not. If a person has cancer, plenty of people will muster up a little compassion before giving advice. But there is no mercy for the person with AIDS or HEPATITIS C, because everyone is pretty sure that we have what we have because of something we did. Thanks for your help..............but I think Im out of here.I thought this would be a different place to try and geet some answers, but I see it is really just the same ole, same ole.Oh, I dont qualify for the "pay based on your income thing" I fall right on that cusp that qualifies me to "fall through the cracks"

  • Sorry about your frustrations, but there cannot be an accurate diagnosis or proper medical care in a place like this. No one can possibly know what the problem is. The best we can do is make educated guesses. The wrist lump could be a "glangion cyst", but once again, you need a surgeon who specializes in hands to help you get rid of it. $$$http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganglion_cystI had one and the pain disappeared as soon as it was removed. They tend to appear overnight. Pay the doctors ten dollars a month or they may be able to write you off, but I think you are going to need their assistance. It could just be a kidney infection and antibiotics would fix it up, but, once again, you aren't going to get the RX without seeing a doctor. The longer you wait, the harder and more damage will be done to your body, so I would look for a doctor who was willing to make an arrangement with me. It could be something easily fixed, but then, six months from now it could be a total disaster. See why we need a national healthcare system???

We have that in the uk and its dreadfull unless you pay private they do what they like when they like, or most of the time they do nothing at all, we pay our nhs contributions to pay for this as mandatory but id rather have the option to pay private and use that money but our government does not give us the choice, only the well off have a chance through the nhs.
