Hi all, be grateful for any help you can give me.
I'm a 35yo male. About 6 weeks ago I had a really bad cold, mainly a chestly cough but also made me feel very run down. At one point I was coughing so hard I felt like I bruised my ribs and I had an unbearable pain in my right side for several days.
Eventually, the cough cleared and the pain has eased but not gone away completely. At first I felt I may have bruised my ribs or maybe pulled a muscle but to still be feeling it 6 weeks later seems extreme.
I did smoke until the bad cough but have managed to stay off them for the 6 weeks since (a great positive).
The pain is not too severe most of the time but can get quite painful at times, painkillers don't help a lot and it's always there. I can also feel it sometimes if I breath really deep.
The pain is at the top of my ribcage under my armpit and can come around towards my chest a bit.
Sorry it's a bit vague. Don't have any other symptoms and generally feel ok in myself apart from this pain.
