Hi ,

I am 30 years old woman with two beautiful kids.

This started last winter 2008 december.
I have been suffering from deep ear (left side) pain when i go in the cold and also due to noise, even when i talk on phone for more than 10 minutes. At first the pain was very mild but it started to creep on my face (left cheek and jaw) and also top and back of my head (left part). Now i am even having some discomfort in left side of my throat.

First I went to ENT , ENT did all the tests CT Scan for my sinus, radioactive sensitivity test, some speech and sound test and all the tests came normal. When i said i am having head pain also, the ENT said, it's not my department go to a neurologist.

I had been to the neurologist , he did brain MRI and then everything came normal. So the neurologist gave me saying that i am getting kind of half headaches...and he gave some medication to use for 3 months. I am using the medication but i am not really satisfied....

So is there any help...what it's really i am having..i have no idea what's going on in my head? We live north east part of U.S..That i cannot avoid cold here, i am trying my best to cover my ears and head.

All this pain started from last winter december, i even used to have little discomfort in summer due to humidity but this fall the discomfort is already there for me there is pain in throat now. I am not able to go through this pain whole winter..Please some one help me...

I will appreciate all of your effort...
Waiting for some quick response..

Thanksssssssss............

  • I am a mother of two as well i have been experiecing left sided headaches and inner ear pain for about 4mths i have seen 3 doctors that say they see nothing in my ear i even seen my dentist thinking it could be my wisdom teeth and its not that either. I work for an opthalmologist and he refered me to an ENT and she found nothing either. I seen my family doc and he says it could be a pinched nerve in my kneck, he is sending me for blood work and x-rays of my kneck and an MRI is being scheduled. I am very frustrated with this because there is not one day that goes by that i do not feel the pain, its constant.

I try my best. I wish I had an answer for both of you but I don't. I've suffered the same symptoms for years. Mine started with deep inner wax in my left ear that was removed. It was excruciating pain since then. That was in 1998. Yes, that long ago and the pain as gotten progressively worse. This last October a Pain Management doctor diagnosed me with Neuralgia. Cranial Nerve Damage. He stuck a needle in the left side of my head called a Caudel nerve block. Wow.. that really did the trick. My ear and teeth and head stopped hurting. No pain anywhere at all. As if I never had a problem. I was floored. You need to seek out a doctor that will do that. Seems it was just an experiment because my new doctors I've seen say they would never do such a thing. My ear is starting to hurt once again and I'm not happy about this. It has been around 7 months since the last shot. I might have to find that doctor once again. And fast!!!! The pain is unbearable. Good luck in finding relief for your pain. Nerve damage in your head and ear is a possibility if it is not TMJ. They always assume TMJ. ...

  • shingles can give ear/head pain like that and you don't need to break out to have it under your skin in the nerve endings.
