:( Hi,

For the past 2 months I have been experiencing severe pain in my right hand; exactly my thumb, index finger, middle finger and specially my wrist. The pain is so strong that goes all the way up to my shoulder. Four years ago I had carpal tunnel syndrome surgery. When I visited my regular doctor he send me for a EMG/Nerve Conduction Test and came back with re-curring carpal tunnel. The doctor that did the surgery told me that this is impossible carpal tunnel does not recurr. Any advise, I can't keep taking pain killers and the splint does not help that much.

  • carpal tunnel does indeed come back if you are still doing the same kind of work or hand movements as before. After surgery you are suppose to wear a brace or cast whichever your dr prefers and not do any work with that hand for 6 weeks post op. Did you work right after or continue the same line of hand movements?

  • I would have to think your carpal tunnel sydrome is back given your at the same job. I had a friend that had the surgery and went back to the same job and needed the surgery the second time for reoccurance. Thankfully it has been 2 years this summer with no pain -yes she did go back to the same job but do take it easier than before and do try and position her hand movements somewhat differently throughout the course of the day.
