  • If you are overweight and fat around your abdomen, you will have this problem. Reduce weight and wear a supportive belt for your abdomen when you sit for long hours so that there is minimum compression on spine. Get a doc to check your spine.

  • Sounds like a classic case of sciatica...acupuncture is just brilliant for this and is what lead me to become a Doctor of Oriental Medicine. The sciatic nerve runs deep in the glutes, and is causing your pain - does it radiate down the leg at all? Does it feel like an electrical kind of sensation? Please try to find an acupuncturist near you - log on to www.acufinder.com and type in your zip code. You should see results quickly, depending on how long you have had these symptoms. Best of luck.Doctor of Oriental Medicine

  • I have that EXACT problem. Getting up from a seated position and getting in and out of car are the worst. Trying to avoid the cost of MRI. Doctor thinks it is a muscular problem. Did you ever get help for this problem?

  • I have that! My diagnosis was "piriformis syndrome". There's a really good couple of stretches you can do, but it's now been 4 months, and because I recently started working out again, (eliptical), it has gotten worse again! Yikes! It is horrible to get up out of a chair, and there is a burning sensation close to my spine down the right side of my **m, as well as my right side hip and a part of my right quadracep. I am going to my doc again this week to ask for further help, (ie cortasone). I have been loyally going to anciet chinese acupuncture, massage therapy, chiro, and physio. So, it's not easy to get rid of. Keep your chin up.
