Here's my sob story: I'm a 46 y.o. mwm, and have had what was called "hypoglycemia" since menses (via glucose tolerance test). Usual treatment s/b eating protein every 4 hrs., but never worked for me. Same symptoms - feel like all the blood rushes from my head, very dizzy/faint, cold sweat, must lie down, etc. Only then does protein help. I started having grand mal seizures at the age of 25 and had an MRI and EEG which indicated "slightly abnormal brain waves". Had maybe a dozen seizures, and the continuing hypoglycemic attacks, until I was about 35, when I was put on Dilantin. I haven't had any breakthrough seizures, but I get hypoglycemic/ ictal symptoms 2-4 hours after I eat something - almost every time! - so now I don't eat during the day, period. I was up to 7 30-mg. capsules and became toxic last week so am back down to 5. As a sidebar I have also been dix'd with depression/bipolar/dysthymia/anxiety and take Paxil, 30 mg./day. Is Dr. House out there?Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
