I had Ulnar nerve surgery in my left arm a couple months ago and changed jobs so got new insurance that won't cover anything to do with Ulnar nerve so have been searching for an answer to my Middle Finger swelling.
I can't imagine what it is as only my middle fingers are affected and although it sounds funny it is true that only my longest middle fingers are affected.
It started with my left hand middle finger, waking up with it swelled and feeling like I jammed it or sprained it. I didn't think anything of it as maybe I did jam it and didn't realize it but two days later my right hand middle finger showed the same symptoms. Now both fingers are swelled and feel like they are sprained. Moving them throughout the day gets them back to normal but it literally takes a couple hours to be able to bend them normally again. And after sleeping through the night it starts up again. Sometimes worse on one side than the other but alternating back and forth for the past week or so.
Since it has only affected my middle fingers I was looking for something specific to diagnose what could be wrong. I am a 35 year old male with no medical problems other than the Ulnar nerve surgery. I do type all day for work (book keeper) but the movement actually makes them feel better. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am sure going to the doctor would be an insurance battle because of the riders on my policy. Oh, and only the knuckles on the middle fingers swell up. Everything else including the other fingers are fine. Thanks.
