hi there

Over the last couple of years i have been getting bad headaches but not often enough to see a doctor (throbbing pain on one side of head which seems to radiate to around eye, jaw and ear) This happens usually once or twice a month then sometimes nothing for months

Anyway, i had a headache so bad last week that i had to be sent home from work and another one again on Friday which has lasted til present

What i have noticed lately is my eyelid or area under eye is twitching or there is pain around the eye (always one not both) not unlike a nerve being pressed upon as well as the other symptoms above

I have also been getting a strange sensation like there is something in my eye (not a eyelash but actually like some fluid which leaks out in small quantities)

I should also add that my eye is not red at all but feels like it should be - it is so sore!

It is very strange, almost like I have a "cold" in the eye!

It is noticeably worse after i have been outside in the cold air.

It just seems to be one thing after the other lately, I had a really bad cold about 3-4 weeks ago and actually had to be given a dose of amoxycillin to clear it. I have had three colds this year which is very very unusual for me.

I don't smoke at all (boyfriend does though) or drink a lot and I work in an office with articificial lighting and work at a pc most days of the week

Any suggestions welcome as to what this could be (and how to cure it?)

S :(

  • Please go to dr and get checked out. Perhaps you have an infection that needs different abx. Hope you feel better~~JerseyLymie

  • yes, with this latest set of headaches i have been getting a stiff neck as well. from conversations with colleagues they think it might actually be migraines i am getting - which worries me a bit as my dad has suffered from them for years S

  • it could be a cerbural annuerisum but there are other cause of the same pain. i have been to the doctors 3 times and he has sent me back with the fact that it could be stress due to the passing of my late farther which i highly doubt as you can understand the pain is to immense

  • yes, what happens is that the pain is always on one side e.g pain in forehead, eye, jaw, throat (glands?) and neck is always on the same side like many, i have found that there are many different possibilities for my symptoms - some of them quite serious! The thing is, like i said the pain is not there everyday so it could be a while before the next instance I have found that normal headache tablets don't do anything for my head pain - hence me being sent home from work (it has never been as bad as that before) I genuinely haven't felt 100% since i had my virus - that's the strangest thing S

  • I have this same issue. I found it was caused by TMJ (Temporomandibular joint disorder). Do you have clicking in your jaw? Does the pain get worse when you check gum or jerkey? Does your jaw lock sometimes? http://www.medicinenet.com/temporomandibular_joint__disorder/article.htm TMJ can be agrivated by stress, lack of sleep, over excitment, lots of eating, biting nails, lots of chewing, and many more things. • Migraines? Not to scare you, but has anyne in your family had a stroke? If so, ask about aneurysms.
