I am a 45 year old male. I have been running most of my life. I run up to 10K (6.2 miles) Recently my left foot has started to go numb at about the 5 mile mark. I have also started to get the numbness when playing soccer after about half an hour. My shoes are really not tight. I have just bought a new pair of running shoes and they are one size larger than my old ones. They too give me the same numbness after 5 miles. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • How's it goin mate, notice nobody replied but I've got a little suggestion. I have had the same problem only through playing some hockey and even a little futbol myself, try taking some folic acid and al the vitamin b's. It will increase blood flow to the nerves in your foot and throughout your body, so no more numbness. Hope it helps you out. Cheers

  • hi mate, it really sounds like fallen arches or if you have any back problems a nerve trapped in your back, but coming from a fellow athlete, the fallen arches is very common and curable (go to a podiatrist). take care, sean.

  • do you have family history? what is your current diet? Are you diabetic. Check with your family doctor to rule out diabetes or MS. If that's not it, see an Orhtopedic specialist. Best of luck.
