Hi All,

Im hoping someone can shed some light on my symptoms and guide me in the right direction.
I went to my GP 6 mths ago complaining about always being tired. Im only in my mid 20's and up until now have been very fit and healthy. I eat well and exercise regulaily. I dont smoke and i drink very moderately. The doctor did a number of tests and the bloods came back that i had a B12 deficiency. I started on b12 injections (6 altogether) and began to feel worse. Not only did i feel exhausted i also broke out in bad acne all over my face, back and chest. I stopped the injections immediately. That was 3 months ago and the acne is still on my face. Im still exhausted and my right side (leg and hand) are completely numb making it very hard to sleep. The GP is doing more tests next week but doesnt seem worried and feels that the acne us completely unrelated. Can anyone please help me with this. Am very worried and dont know what to do.

  • Hello, It is important that you be referred to a neurologist and have an MRI. Don't fiddle with GP's any longer, request/demand a referral. You need to find out what this is so treatment can begin. In all illnesses, the sooner treatment begins the better. There are numerous problems you could have. Let us know how you go. Good luck. Jen

  • Funny (not) how when GP's do something that appears to cause another problem they can never see that their methods were the cause, and yet when a patient starts to recover, sometimes spontaneously, the KNOW that their treatment worked... It must be all that money they earn, affecting their egos.Anyway, off my soapbox, I agree with JenninOz - it's time to go further. And if you're exhausted I know that might not be easy. In the meantime, if you are still b12 deficient perhaps a gentler source like sublingual b12 tablets (methylcobalamin is better) is in order. Magnesium is also worth considering - tablets spread throughout the day is going to be better for you until your skin is clear again as magnesium oil (although better absorbed) would not be comfortable on broken skin at all. I hope you start to feel better soon.
