I am 22 year old female 5'4" and 113 pounds; overall I am pretty active and very health conscious. I have never had a regular period so since I was 16 I had been on birth control. However, the past 3 years I have stopped taking it for 6months at a time. Each time my period is absent, and sonos have showed that I have polycystic ovaries. Although, after blood tests all my hormone levels related to PCOS have returned very normal, and unlike most women with PCOS my SHBG is above normal range and I have no other related symptoms. I don’t know if its related, but my potassium and calcium were also slightly above normal. In addition, over the past few years I have had a range of gastro symptoms. When I was 17, I was diagnosed with chronic GERD while lying down, however with nexium and other acid reducing meds, I still have frequent and severe: heartburn, bloating, and stomach pains that occur at least once a week for several hours during the day. Also less frequently, but still often I have a sharp upper back pain on my right side (in the vicinity of either my kidney or liver), I have noticed this to be worse when I have had an alcoholic drink. Lastly I am easily fatigued and with plenty of sleep at night I usually always take a long nap or two. Since my blood test results, I haven’t made it back for a recheck, my doctor just suggested to get back on birth control. However, I just really want to get to the bottom of these symptoms, because I really don’t think that PCOS makes sense. My friend in medical school thinks it could possibly be Addison’s Disease....Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
