Hi, I've been suffering with pain on the side of my neck, and facial tingling for almost a year and a half. After brain, sinus, and neck MRI and brain & sinus CT, all negative for any lesions or tumors, doc did barium swallow and found reflux in Aug. last year. Been on prilosec 20mg 2x/day since but no improvement. Had esophogascopy (sp?) and he found swollen tongue. Did biopsy on tongue, no cancer. I am in so much pain and it feels like my whole throat is swollen and it throbs. Lots of post nasal drip too. Does this sound right for someone with reflux? I am still convinced something else is going on. The tingling happens only on the face and tongue and occurs about every 10 minutes lasting for a minute or so. Thanks for any insight into what's ailing me!

  • Acid reflux has become a fashionable diagnosis when they don't know what's wrong with you. I've been through this for the last four years. my tongue is also swollen, I had a tongue biopsy - result: epithelial hyperplasia with submucusal edema. Translation in English: Swollen tongue. They don't know the reason, and I have been searching. I have pretty much the same symptoms as you do. I also took zantac for a long time. It didn't do anything but lowered my platelet count (one of the side effects the doctor had forgotten to mention.) I was told it could also be an auto-immune disease... I also was told I have lyme disease. That's quite possible, but nobody with Lyme has ever had a swollen tongue. If you ever get a diagnosis, let me know. Good luck,Claude

  • Dear Claude...Look into what I mentioned in the above post...don't let the name fool you...people are complaining of all kinds of swelling...joints...even though they say for this, they don't swell...there was even someone with swollen lips. lots of strange swelling...it's worth looking into.

  • I know this sounds simple, but could it be allergy to something you're eating??

  • This is also simple, strep throat? Can cause a swollen tongue. Your doc's office can do a rapid-strep test IN the office.
