I am a 24 year old female college student, I work out on a regular basis and I have been having a strange sharp pain underneath of my left breast for about a week or two that felt like I was being stabbed in the ribs/lungs. Then all of a sudden Monday evening I felt like I was getting a cold, sore throat and real congested. I woke up the next morning feeling horrible, my breathing was stressed and my boyfriend noticed that my lips were bluish. I went to the doctor on Tuesday they gave me two EKGs this first had a strange jump and the second appeared fine. They also took blood and chest xrays. My O2 stat was 92 when I arrived and they would not let me leave until it was 95. My pulse rate was also elevated. Today I went back and they said they need a third person to look at my chest xrays and that my white blood cell count was normal so it is not in my blood. They gave me another shot of steroids and antibiotics as well as an inhaler. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?Hi.Do you have any symptoms still now?Was the pain worsened by breathing? Please get testing to check for Pulmonary Embolism if you havn't already had one done. This is very important as this is one possibility of what your symptoms sound like & it doesnt show up on an Chest Xray.Every symptom that you have fits in with it-the sudden onset, chest pains, low oxygen, new onset atrial fibrilation, cyanosis(Blue lips),white blood count can be normal or elevated etc.It can be related to bloodclots that may form in leg, pelvic, or abdominal veins, or even occasionally in the right side of the heart. You have to make sure to get the best tests done for this as some things can miss it.An invasive procedure is the Gold Standard for testing but there are special CT to but i dont know how accurate it is.Hoepfully you have a good knowledgable doctor who knows all this so they dont do a lesser tests & miss something. It could be other things too instead but i think its important to get tests A.S.A.P to rule this in or out first.
