Hi

I'm a 19 year old guy, and have not been feeling myself lately.

I know some of my problems are anxiety related, and I think I have some severe anxiety from time to time.

But also I am feeling the following physical symptoms that are really effecting me day to day and making each day miserable:

-Fatigue ( I get tired within an hour of getting out of bed)

-Light headed

-Headaches most days, feels like it's deep in my forehead

-Inability to focus or concentrate

-Loss of appetite

-Sometimes it feels as though I have slight aura's in my eyes, similar to the feeling before getting a migraine headache, but these don't bother me nearly as much as the other symptoms.

I have been to a doctor about 6 months ago to have a blood test, and they could find nothing.

Recently I went to the doctor to get another blood test and have not heard back from them which leads me to believe they have found nothing wrong once again.

What types of things might be causing me to feel this way every day? Is it possible that excessive worrying / anxiety can be the cause?

Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

CL

It's not at all uncommon for stress/anxiety to manifest in physical symptoms. Are you being treated for any anxiety disorders at present? Do you take any routine daily medications? You do have a few symptoms that could possible be attributed to other conditions..."-Inability to focus or concentrate" - this could be anxiety related but could also be consistent with some degree of Attention Deficit Disorder."-Fatigue ( I get tired within an hour of getting out of bed)" and "-Loss of appetite" - again, perhaps anxiety related but could be indicative of an onset of Depression.Have you seen your GP recently? It would be a good idea to share these daily symptoms with him. I think that you could benefit from a trial of an antianxiety medication, and a further evaluation regarding ADD and possible Depression.Best regards,John

  • It could be anxiety or depression causing your symptoms but with the one you put things.. im thinking it may well be more than that. You've listed the main "chronic fatigue syndrome" symptoms esp the "tired within an hr of getting out of bed" sounds more along those lines. Many doctors find CFS hard to distinguish from anxiety and depression and anxiety is often one of the symptoms of CFS so that can further confuse the medical picture. Get your anxiety treated and then see what happens.. if the other symptoms remain.. you could possibly have a mild case of CFS........... With CFS.. doing activities will make you feel worst after them. If its depression.. often being active can help some. The CDC says that 80% of CFS is undiagnosed. (this is due to doctors being naive when it comes to this illness.http://www.cdc.gov/cfs/cfssymptomsHCP.htm best luck........ Another thought i have for you is that you could have Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), that will cause similar symptoms too. Consider POTS if you find yourself worst in warm weather and from standing or being upright.

The symptoms that you are exhibiting, frankly, aren't all that serious.I believe that you are an essentially healthy nineteen year-old male and have recently been feeling the increased anxiety related to the current world that we all live in....where will I get a good job?...will I be able to afford a wife, family, and mortgage. CL , these are all very real concrete concerns of the late teen-to-twenty something age group. Believe me...I know cuz I used to be right in the middle of it all.The BAD part that I have to share is that...income-wise, security-wise, future-oriented wise...you couldn't have picked a more bleak time frame to come of age. But PLEASE DON'T despair...economic landfills are ALWAYS temporary in nature. Yeah, the $200,000 home will once again, (in not too many years) rear it's ugly head at a $425,000 price...but life as we know it will certainly go on...in EXACTLY the manner the designers intended it to!Enough of my scattered thoughts. CL. You're a young man...you're also seemingly a pretty HEALTHY young man.........DON'T sweat the small stuff!!Wishing that I was also a young man one more time! All the best,John

Thanks,CL Mystery diagnoses eposide on POTS (please note that the person on the show has it to a SEVERE degree.. most dont go unconscious with it..and for most POTS isnt at all dangerous.. it just can really affect ones life) most usually just suffer from tiredness, dizziness, no able to concentrate, headaches with it.. and sometimes nausea with it.. and trouble with being upright which brings on symptoms more).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN3PB6N6oGYhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I40-r3RpFjs&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHydjGdg4XQ&feature=related I myself get POTS (in my case severely) due to the other medical condition I have (I have CFS). The POTS headaches I get in my case, are the same as you described (coming deep from my forehead!.. they extend out from there).. that is why, along with your other symptoms, I suggested to check out POTS. With your symptoms so general thou and are not quite descriptive enough to say how likely POTS is to be in your case, i dont know. You do need to get your anxiety treated first and see what (if any) symptoms remain.
