I have had problems with zero sensation below my waist (unable to feel heat, cold, pain and touch), uncoordinated and weak leg muscles (at times unable to move my legs at all), neurogenic bladder, mixed type irritable bowel syndrome and increasing middle and lower back pain for the last two years. I have a c7 incomplete spinal injury 10 years ago with almost complete recovery (have some sensory issues with my hands).I have been reassured it is not connected to this old injury. I have also been told I have osteoarthritis at C7, L2,3,4,5, but it is not severe enough to cause any problems. I have seen rheumatologists and neurologists, but have been told there is nothing wrong, it is all in my head, or just we don't know and probably never will. I have had that many blood tests and MRI's that I can't count.

I am very frustrated at not having an answer and when something goes wrong being treated like i'm faking when I end up in hospital.

  • Hi,I am having the exactly same issues. Except no previous back injury.I had a spinal MRI and Pelvic MRI today and it was clean except a functional benign cyst on my right ovary. but my pain is mainly in my left leg.when I wake up from sleep my legs are numb, and it takes me 20 minutes before I can actually get out of bed. I am seeing my doctor on tuesday to show my MRIs.... but they are taking me seriously (I know what you mean by docs saying that you are imagining your pain, that happened to me last year with my back). I am having some excrutiating pain in my left leg mainly thigh, and the left side of my hip, and lower back. The pain radiates to the right leg, or my feet at times too. and I get a cold-wet sensation around my legs and back a few times a day.Did you get a leg and or brain MRI? I am wondering what kind of diagnostic tests ill be receiving soon.Let's keep in touch, I hope we can resolve this. I will let you know what happens with me..

  • Only the pain in my back changes. I have no pain in my legs as I can't feel or move them all the time. I had brain and spine MRI's nerve conduction study and an EMG.I have a new Gp and he wants to xrays to be done of my spine again to check the progress and severity of the osteoarthritis in my spine and rule out further/unseen injury. How ever the only condition with this is that the pain in my back has to stay at it's current level or get worse in the next month.
