Night Eating Syndrome?

Hey everyone.
I'm 21 years old and have what I think isn't a huge problem but its one that I would like to try to resolve.

Ever since I was about 12 I have been a night-eater. I used to be overweight as a child and like any child was very emotional about this.

Through the process of growing up and getting taller, 6'4" now I have slimmed down. I still have a gut and I am only about 15 - 20 lbs over weight. normal right?

here's my issue... I am a health FREAK. i diet, i exercise. I count calories. I work out 3 times weekly... but because i am a night eater, i simply throw all of my hardwork out the window. i can't help but wake up 2,3, even 4 times a night to walk down stairs and eat something. i am totally conscious that i am doing this and before i go to sleep i even try to prevent myself from doing it by putting a healthy snack out or putting a large glass of water next to my bed. i will wake up and absolutely NO DOUBT about it have to get out of bed and eat something. it doesnt matter what i am eating, but the problem is that i will do it a few times a night and sometimes eat things that obviously are a negative attribute to a healthy diet.

i am just like any other 21 year old. i am under stress, have a job, go to classes every day, and party on a weekly to bi-weekly basis. i've found that the only time i sleep throughout the entire night is when i have a drink (alcoholic drink) before bed or when im running on zero sleep from the night before.

do i need a medication to help me sleep more thoroughly throughout the night?

this wouldnt be a huge problem to me if i havent been doing this for so many years and causing myself to be depressed at the lack of accomplishment from so much hardwork at the gym and dieting maintenance.

can anyone help me?

In order to loose weight you need at least 9 hrs of good strong sleep so that your HGH can kick in. You dont need to exersice like a freak ..just do spurt exercise when ever you can such as RUN up the stair to class. This also kicks in you HGH. Take a good yoga class as much as possibe..especial a KUndalini Yoga class. Before you go to bed hae something filling and comforting, dont drink water with or just before or after a meal and Make sure you get at least one really good hearty meal such as brown rice, tofu and veggies...and eat as mucha s you want....ok..good luck!
