  • my baby 2 months old has orthinine level 205 and ammonia 41 what does this meanYour baby has raised ammonia levels, this is caused by an error in the urea cycle possibly involving Ornathine trans carboxylase, an enzyme. This is the commonest type. The doctors should give the baby compounds that will mop up the extra ammonia as this can cause brain problems if not treated. The doctors will then find out exactly what type of hyperammonia the baby has and give him (I guess a boy as boys are usually more affected as it is x linked) the correct enzymes so that the baby can grow and develop normally. There is lots of information of this on the internet. Just google elevated ammonia levels in baby or hyperammonia. Good luck I hope everything works out well.
