I have a 6 year old little boy that has been sick on and off since he was born but about two years ago the kept saying he had the beginning of an ear infection. They would put him on meds for 10 days then as soon as he was off of them within five days he would have a high fever and joint pain again. A year ago I switched doctors and she wanted to watch him for 24 hours instead of just putting him on something, This happened to be two weeks before my wedding. Ended up I had to take him to the ER that night because I couldn't get his fever lower than 104.3. They admitted him, through the next week and a half they ran a ton of tests he had a blood infection, and pnemonina, which they said had been there for a while. His white blood cell count was 42,000. and couln't get it down for about 5 days, and still is not normal.
So since may of last year my son has been getting high fevers and shorrible joint pain to the point that he can't walk. They diagnosed him with post-streptococcal reactive arthritis last June. Since then we went to get a second oppinion and they don't think that can be it.
Now he is on Colchizine and Penicilline every day. They still don't know what's wrong... any ideas????

  • Sounds like his immune system is not up to par. I would consider seeing a Naturopathic doctor as well. Perhaps there are nutrient deficiencies or environmental toxins interfering with the immune system. Using a whole foods diet (preferably organic) would be supportive of the immune system.

  • My partner had that exact same thing and she is still suffering from it at times. It has been almost two years now it is a long road to recovery from this. Poor little boy, good luck!

  • Since your boy has been sick since birth, I wonder if there is a genetic problem going on. There are syndromes where kids run fevers. Unfortunately, they're rare problems and most doctors miss them. I'd ask to see a geneticist.
