I recently had a C-6, C-7 injury in a car accident and now every time i lay my hand straight on any hard or soft surface I get a forceful sensation that keeps getting worst with twitching in my left hand. Then my hand will begin to fold upward by itself and feel better as long as it is relaxed. My right hand does not do that but it has pain and numbness sometimes. Can any of these injuries be related to my nerve damage?

  • Hello,I have been diagnosed in the past with carpel tunnel due to a dog bite injury to my hand and what you describe does sound like a form of nerve injury. I would experience pain and weakness in my hand that would shoot up to my shoulder at times, also extreme weakness. I experienced alot of sudden numbness as well. I went to a hand specialist and had to wear a brace while using my hand (working etc.) They recomended B vitamins to help with nerve pain. Especially B6 and B12. I did not try them, but I here they do help. Try going to a specialist so that they can test you to see if you have nerve damage. They will be able to pin point exactly which nerves are giving you problems and advise a treatment plan, sometimes surgery is needed, I guess it all depends. Nerve damage depending on what's going on, can take a while to heal, but stay positive. I hope you feel better!

  • I suggest seeing a physiotherapist or chiropractor. They may be able to give you a diagnosis, and treatment.
