My fiance is experiencing symptoms that we cannot find a reason for.
If we have sex or if he has an erection the head of his penis swells as well as the one side of his foreskin, its very painful & he also experiences a burning sensation. The part of skin just behind the head part is red & very painful & the back part of the head is a bit swollen & purple in colour. He has no problem urinating & also no other symtoms. He is 28. Can you please help us to figure out what might be wrong?

  • STD clinics are free. Go get checked together for chlamydia. If they don't find anything...could be anything from soap to nuts...then a urologist or family doctor...sounds like an infection--the STD clinic can give him something for it.

  • There are a lot of hydraulics involved in an erection and your boyfriend might have something internal going on. Is this a skin problem, or do you feel it might be under the surface?

  • The redness & swelling seems to be on the outside so I do think its moer an external thing, skin problem or STD, but I don't have too much knowledge of the different STD to know which one to get info on, I live in South Africa, pretoria & I do not know of any STD clinics here & my fiance refuses to go see a doctor at this point in time because he feels that it will go away on its own, but its worstening.

  • You said he has burning so that might suggest chlamydia which would require that you both take antibiotics. Just try to find a regular doctor and have him run some tests and look at your boyfriend.

  • If he won't go to a doctor *you* should go. Please protect yourself.
