I need help. My doctor just gives me wellbutrin but it doesn/t help. I am generally a very nuce guy but I perceive something and then blow up and then m sorry and realize how wrong I was. For example, things are going well with my wife and then all of a sudden I see a businees card with a man's name on it or think is talking to a guy on the phone and I can feel it coming on and, at the time, I don't think it is irrational and then I blow up and it lasts several hours until I come down and feel very sorry and know I was crazy to think those thoughts. It happens every couple of days. I latch onto something and can't get it out of my mind until I explode. Please give me some feedback.

  • It is possible you are Bipolar II. Bipolar I is when you have very highs and very lows. But the manic cycle of Bipolar II can be exteme irritability, irrational thinking, and the flip side is feelings of remorse and depression. In a manic cycle, it can feel like you just can't stop yourself. You know what you might be screaming about is wrong, but you just keep going. You can still be functional at work, social situations, etc., but really hard to live with! The worst part is most docs diagnose depression, and put you on an anti-depressant like Wellbutrin, which will actually exacerbate the manic cycle. Bipolar II can also have rapid cycles, switching back and forth quickly from mania to depression. It's tough to treat, so you could go through a lot of different meds before finding the right combination. If this sound at all like what you're experiencing, see a psychiatrist to get on the right meds. Good luck, and the people you love will thank you! I've been there.
