I was involved in a head on collision in November of 2006. I have bulging disks at c5-c6, c6-c7 with moderate foraminal stenosis and significant degenerative disc disease. Focal central herniated disc at c5-c6.

My symptoms are as follows:

neck pain (tightness, heavyness, burning, sharp pains, tightness of muscles)

arm pain (heavy, throbbing pain from elbow down to my hand, burning, very sensitive to touch, weakness, pain when holding arm above shoulder level)

hand: numbness, burning pains, warm and sweaty at times, goes completely numb and swells when I try walking or exercising and starts to tingle & burn

shoulder & right brachial plexis region: very tight, burning, tightness of muscles, "knots" in shoulder blade, etc.)

I don't ever have a day that I don't hurt, but the levels of pain do vary. I have noticed when I am sad or depressed my pain magnifies. When I exercise, do physical stuff, carry my purse on my right side - it increases. I have been through a year of physical therapy, and tons of different prescriptions. The doctor has just said to go to pain management but that doesn't give me anything but more meds to alter who I am. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi, First of all I am so very sorry to here the pain you are in, and I honestly know how you feel. I cant say for sure but the symptoms you have described sounds almost the same to what I am suffering. I have been diagnosed with a severe case of full body RSD, it is caused from nerve damage which could happen anywhere from an accident to a surgery to just a twisted ankle. Mine was caused by 3 corrective foot surgeries, in which the RSD spread from the foot to full body. All the pains you have said you suffer from, is what i am also experienceing. I have a full body burning, combined with shooting, stabbing, sharp, numbness, tingling. I am so sensitive it hurts to have cloths on, wind blowing on my skin, just someone giving me a hug, water feels like acid. These are just some of many pains and symptoms, and like you any stress or depression will triple my pain as will weather, foods, noise, to even just walking more than 500 feet. I too have been through countless physical therepist, meds as well as other thing, they just havent helped. For some RSD just doesnt respond to normal treatments, like me I am setting up to receive the ketamine infusion. I do hope that RSD is not the case. As it is very crippling and there is no cure, I went from riding horses to walking with crutches. RSD is very misunderstood and under-diagnosed, I saw nearly 60 doctors by the time I was finally diagnosed with it and half of them thought I was just making everything up. The doctors that do diagnose it though is pain managment specialists they are the only ones that seem to know anything about this disease. RSD is just an idea, you can look up the rsd foundation and also the website- rsdsa.org, and rsdhope.com these are very helpful to see all the symptoms rsd can cause. I hope this helps a bit, again I know how horrible it is to deal with all that pain on a daily basis, and hope that you find the answers you need. Sam
