I herniated my L5 S1 disc 5 months ago and am still in pain when ever I do anything physical, even staying bent over for any amount of time and then straightening out causes pain. On top of that I have had severe side pain in my right side for 4 months and have tried to stretch it out but only makes it worse. It feels like the muscles are trying to tare away from my rib cage and pelvis and I never had anything like this till I hurt my back, it is extremely painful!. No one is addressing the side pain at all, they say to keep heat on it and stretch it but I have been doing this for months and it is not working. My physiotherapist does think it is related to my back injury in that all my side muscles are trying to compensate for the injury. The pain will not let up and my doctor hasnt even offered me any pain meds for this!. I am very frustrated and lost cause nothing is working and I get no relief from the pain. Does anyone have the same situation? I would greatly appreciate any help!!

  • exercises will help build core-strength and muscle in places that should help THE back support itself better .THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE OLDER YOU GET THE WEAKER THE muscles become. I AM SURE IF YOU HAVE BEEN TO A neurosurgeon HE WOULD HAVE MANSION A OPPERATION. the constant pain you speak of -- is as you said muscles --.you need to get a kidney belt the same as what the bikes use to support there backs. IT will hold you back FIRM and help for the pain.take it from me that is all----------- i mean all that helps.---------with that kind of back pain there is not any medication that will completely take the pain AWAY.:p it is all about learning to live with it or surgery i did forget to mansion the cramping of the back will ease of if you uses the belt
