I'm a male teenager, currently 17 years old. I have been pretty healthy all of my life, but over the past year or so, I have been been experiencing several things that make me feel that there may be something wrong.

First off, I am unable to gain weight. I am 6', current 124 lbs. I eat 3 or more meals a day. I drink about 2 liters of fluids a day.
There are days when for no reason what-so-ever I will drop 5 or so lbs.

Despite all of this, I believe that I have very low blood pressure. It happens quite often that I stand up and suddenly become to light headed and disoriented that I fall right back to the ground. This has also happened before while walking as well as while sitting.
Occasionally I feel a pain in my chest. The only thing that helps to relieve it is to resist breathing. It goes away after a few minutes, but while it is there, it is sharp.

Im not sure what all of this could be. Someone mentioned the possibility of diabetes to me a while ago, but im not sure what constitutes having diabetes, etc.

  • You should start by seeing your doctor. Then, if your doctor is unable to help you, let us know what the doctor thought, what tests were run etc. Also, make sure you eat plenty of salt (not a ton though as it could be bad in the long run), and stand SLOWLY, don't get up too fast it sounds like some sort of vertigo, which I've heard is common in teens especially with low blood pressure, and being underweight. Five pounds in a day is crazy. No wonder you feel awful. Go see your doctor, he or she should be helpful. Let us know what you find out, in the meantime i'll do some research.
