Hi all I have been having headaches for about a year and made several visits to my gp who is consistantly brushing me off with neck braces and physio. Recently about a month ago I had a gland swelling up on the l/h side of my neck which is still the same. The pain in my neck for the last week or so has been a tenderness and a tightness on the other side to the swollen gland. Sometimes it feels like someone has grabbed the muscle (?) and pulled it forcing my head to one side. Sometimes the pain is the base of my skull sometimes the base near my shoulder and the tenderness on both sides. I don't know where to go next.

  • has your doctor been told about this abrupt onset of a swollen lymph node? if not I think you should let him/her know!

  • Have you been tested for mononucleosis? A swollen gland can be a sign of your body fighting infection, or it could also be an indication of lymphoma (cancer in the lymph nodes). If you have had an enlarged lymph node for over a month, then you need to find out why.

  • Yes I told my doctor who said not to feel it as it would never go away if i did and also that if it were anything majorly serious I would be dead by now!. In the 12 months since my symptoms started all I have had is a blood test and physiotherapy
