HI,
I am (was) a healthy, active 30 yr old female with no known existing major health issues. About 6 weeks ago, upon returning from a trip and working a few days I began to develop a sore throat, body aches and some congestion. Over that weekend I had a slight fever but it, the sore throat and congestion cleared up by Sunday. I was left with the body aches and intense neck spasms which continued to severely affect me for almost 3 more weeks and I still have minor flare ups of this weird migratory pain (legs, arms, back, neck). I went to the dr. and they said its a weird virus, nothing you can do but wait it out. At no time did I have a cough but about 3 weeks in developed chest pain below my breast but above my ribcage on the left side. I also was feeling milder chest pain in the same place on the right side occaisionally and also down lower on the ribcage on both sides. So I went back to the doctor they told me my previous blood work was excellent and that my urine showed dead muscle cells, similar to other samples with the same symptoms they have seen of this mystery virus lately. I was also diagnosised with a minor UTI but never had symptoms of it which the dr thought was weird. The dr did a chest xray, echocardigram, stress test, ekg and more bloodwork as well, all were normal and within healthly ranges. So end of story 6 weeks after the onset I still have chest pain on the left side to the inside and below my breast (no lump) and sometimes in my left elbow and they have told me its probably just GAD which I do not believe as I have never had anxiety attacks, why would they suddenly start now. Does anyone have any suggestions or insight?

  • You are too young for there not to be an answer. I have many of the same symptoms and have had for about 3 years-----everything comes back in the normal rangem---I am older than you.I have a friend who was having all kinds of similar symptoms----young in mid 20's went to a major health care provider---------did blood work and found nothing. Two weeks later heard nothing from the doctor. She called and was told the blood results were normal. Her question "then why do I hurt like I do I am 25 and have never felt like this before" -------note one doctor told her to take B-6 saying she was retaining fluid in her ankle and that would take care of it. Rather than going back to the same doctor she went to the reception desk and told them how she felt and demanded to see a specialist. That doctor took her seriously. Result was that within in 2 weeks a deeper level of blood work was done and she was diagnosed with an auto immune disease for which she got treatment and is now able to lead a full active life.I guess my message is be persistent--------stand up for your rights----you have the right to have the best medical care .What you are describing is not the usual for someone your age.

  • I just ran across this post. I have the same symptoms. Pain below my right breast, above ribcage, with similar pain but not as severe on left side. Also armpit pain, both sides. No swelling or lumps, so family doc said probably just a virus. But intense pain going on a month now. Did you ever receive a diagnosis? no HI,I am (was) a healthy, active 30 yr old female with no known existing major health issues. • Thanks for this useful post. Here is some additional information about the "genetics" of this condition that was written by our Genetic Counselor and other genetic professionals: http://www.accessdna.com/condition/Camurati_Engelmann_Disease/71. Thanks, AccessDNA

  • Hi,Looks like you posted this a few years ago. I am having the same exact symptoms. Did you ever find the reason? Please let me know if so. I am 3 weeks into it.RachelHI,I am (was) a healthy, active 30 yr old female with no known existing major health issues. • I have been struggling with some similar problems in the last 12 months. I did have many prior diagnoses of adult ADHD- but given that my first diagnose of that was age 4 and I am now 27 and have learned how to cope with it, I really don't feel it's at the root of my symptoms.Lethargy, depression and verging on hopelessness. A year ago people described me as bright eyes....

  • I am 25 and have been having these exact same symptoms for 3 years now. Not one doctor has taken me seriously and they all believe it is stress and more mental than physical. These symptoms suddenly hit 3 years ago at a time when I was not stressed or unhappy at all. I know in my heart there is something wrong but they cannot figure out what it is...I feel like an 80 yr old trapped in a 25 year old body. I feel horrible 95% of the time but with no diagnosis I get no support from anyone...My symptoms are exactly the same as you have described them and suddenly appeared 3 years ago. I also have chronic headaches, memory loss, chronic sore throat and horrible spider veins everywhere (including my feet!!)
