Let me start by saying thank you to whoever reads my overly descriptive explanation of what I am feeling... I hope someone can offer me guidance and I appreciate any input as I am at a dead end

23 yr old male, white 6' 215 lbs
Docs blood test and urine came back "fine" "100 % healthy" for whatever they tested it for... who knows what they tested for... I sure don't

-Good
Moderate excercise: 1-2 hr cardio week 1-3 hr weight and activities a week
Usually healthy diet with focus on protein and a good multi
Drink plenty of water daily
Supplement with fiber regularly

-Bad
Little sleep (due to symptoms and work)
High Stress (due to symptoms and work)
Occasional binge fast food eating (work)
Tobacco use (dip pouches 3x week)
occasional periods (2-3 weeks) no excercise

-Recent med issues (presumably unrelated to current issue)
Bilateral plantar fasciitis (sp?)

During x-mas o8 suffered pain in lower to mid back on right side so severe (like cramping) that I could not get off the couch, needed help moving and breathing hurt... muscle relaxers, steroids and vicodin made it only barely tolerable (lasted one week then went away)

Insomnia (now seemingly more related to current issue)

Current Symptoms
1 Insomnia (barely sleep some nights other nights pass out from exhaustion)
2 Seemingly irregular heartbeat at times (any time I go to the doctor the EKG always shows normal (in the 2 minutes they monitor)
3 Mood Swings
4 Slow to no bowel movements (sometimes will go a week with large meals and no restroom trips) ((usually only one ever 3 days or so))
5 Abdominal pain in the mornings and occasionally throughout the day
6 Lightheadedness usually with chest "twinges" things just feel kind of like I am out of it... people can talk to me and I just feel "weird" although I am completely lucid and can talk just fine for the most part, sometimes with slight stutter and kind of confused
7 Several moments where I feel like I was having a heart attack, pain and tightness in chest... feeling like my breathing was useless (if that makes sense... air going in but feeling like it wasn't getting used...) The panic of these moments usually made the situation.. EKG showed normal (ER trip diagnosed with GERD.... wrong...)
8 Occasional "twinge" in heart region usually happens about 5 or six times in a row and goes away for a while.
9 Often overactive mind as I lay there trying to sleep (I try all methods of aiding and promoting good sleep habits)
10 Sometimes feel like I just have a "foggy" moment where I am a bit confused or just really lethargic
11 Often extremely tired and out of energy (I blame lack of good sleep)
12 Vomiting, usually during episodes of the "useless breath" and kind of butterflies in my chest feelings... I just feel like somethings gotta come out... either way will do and occasionally helps
13 Heavy weight gain 25 lbs and major gain of fat vs normally muscular as symptoms have gotten worse
14 Joint pain:: knees feet toes wrist elbows are the big ones
15 will sometimes fight sleep... almost falling asleep and waking up panicked and gasping for air

Most of the really not feeling right "like I might not wake up in the morning" starts around the time I get home from work 6-7 pm and gets worse as night goes on, occasionally big meals will "seemingly" make it worse but I cannot for sure say there is any relation. The symptoms have been going on for about 3 months now and are getting worse and more frequent... lasted all day today. I can only honestly say and describe that with the symptoms I have tried to explain, I honestly feel like my body will just shut down and quit... I can tell there is something wrong even if every doctor tells me there is not... makes a guess and prescribes a pill

(wrong)Diagnosis so far... I dont have time to go often... military and all...
GERD
Anxiety attacks
Insomnia

  • have your thyroid tested...this is how i felt and then diagnosed with hashimoto's thyroiditis...i take synthroid and eat a high protein and veggie diet and feel much better.I have just been tested for TSH showed 1.36 and other blood tests (all others appear in middle of their ranges... TSH showed 1.36 in range of .35 and 5.5... this seems odd as if anything it would lean toward hyperthyroidism... I am at a loss here and being military they think i am crazy and are treating me like a potential "fort hood shooter" this is ridiculous and i need help because these symptoms are real and all they want to do is send me off to a shrink...

  • Hello, I am so sorry to hear about what's going on with you but I am having a very horrible experience myself and no one has any clue what is going on so I have been doing a lot of online research. From reading your symptoms and the situation and everything you are going through, I can think of a few things you might wanna look into. First and foremost what jump out at me between the mood changes, neurological symptoms, joint pain (especially your knees) and so on, I would strongly suggest that if you haven't already...please get tested for Lyme Disease. Since you are in the military and I am unsure if you are outdoors often, perhaps you had been some place that has a problem with ticks. Did you have any unusual rash? If not it still could be Lyme Disease because some people exposed never develop the rash. At least try reading about it and see if it sounds possible, also keep in mind testing for Lyme Disease can be difficult as you can get false negatives. Because there are neurological symptoms I would also get tested for B12 Deficiency if you haven't already. Since you have GI symptoms and neurological symptoms as well as a variety of others, it could be some sort of food allergy or intolerance. Do you seem any better or worse depending on what you eat? Keep in mind that food reactions can be delayed as much as 72 hours or more sometimes so it can be hard to pin point a food reaction. One thing to keep in mind is Celiac Disease so you might want to look it up and read about it. Also some of the most common allergenic foods are Wheat, Glutens, Dairy, Nuts, Soy, Etc. Also if I am not mistaken...doesn't Steroids stress and weaken the immune system? If so that can cause a variety of things to go wrong or suddenly come up. For instance Celiac Disease can come out in times of severe mental or physical stress and so can many other things including other food allergies/intolerances. You may also want to look into Candida depending on if you are a believer in that or not, I am but some people aren't. It never hurts to check into things and at least see. Also if you are taking a multi-vitamin it could potentially skew the B12 results artificially, not sure if this applies or not but thought I'd mention it. I am having a strange variety of symptoms too and a lot having to do with my heart, it also to me seems irregular and racy but everytime the drs. take my pulse it feels fine at those moments and they say it's normal. If you are interested in reading my post it's titled "Huge List Of Symptoms...What Could It Be?" at least that's close to the title if not exact, lol. I think it is the panic that scares me the most too, which is odd because before August I was never really a panicky person, pretty much care free and happy go lucky but suddenly a huge list of symptoms were dropped on me and now I am struggling day to day. I'll keep an eye on your post and reply if I can think of anything else, good luck! and don't let them tell you that you are crazy! I know how dismissive military doctors can be but only you know who you are and how you were before all of this and if you don't feel right, don't let them tell you that it's in your head, you know better than they do. Best Wishes,Samantha

  • Sleep apnea is a possibility. Without diving right away into it's possible origins, an easy test will rule it out. Put a tape recorder on your bed stand before you go to sleep then listen to it the next day. If you hear periods where it seems like you're not breathing and then noisily catching your breath, all without waking up, then you may want to talk to a doctor about sleep apnea.

I present no anemia so the doctors wouldnt even entertain the test... I am demanding in this week...
