Hi all, after a lot of phone calls and browsing the web i came across this forum, and decided to ask here if anyone maybe knows what's wrong with my dad. For the last couple of months i've notice a drastic change in my father behavior. He can sleep all day, he seems to have memory loss and is shaking a lot. He had surgery a few months back, removed abscess that was located near his anus, since then he's been on meds. Downside is that he do drink a lor of beer, and i have stated tons of time that he shouldn't mix em with the meds. But i just get the "it's no problem" statement all the time. Me and my brother notice he get's worse every single day. And i'm so ***n worried!

Right now he's a shell of his former self, so if anyone can give me some advice here i would be very grateful.

Sorry for the bad english, Swedish is my native language

  • It sounds like it could be a mix of the alcohol and meds it is known you should not mix them because it can cause liver failure and damage to other organs. The combination may be causing some depression as well since side effects of drinking and meds alone can be great and mixing them even more. I would get him looked at to make sure it is not an organ problem from the meds. Hope I could help a little.

  • Thanks for you input, but i really do doubt it's environmental illness. Since this started to happen right after surgery. Me and my brother convinced him to go to the hospital tomorrow. Hopefully they can do something for him.

  • Hi -- I would let his doctor know how much alcohol your dad is consuming with the medications. He may have been told not to drink while taking them. Of course, if he is addicted to beer, he may not give it up. But maybe the doc can get through to him.

  • Me and my brother finally convinced him to go with the ambulance. As it turns out he been having a liver disease for a long long time, but haven't told us. He's now at the hospital and should receive the help he needs, Thank you all for your input :)
