Since I was a kid I've had trouble with muscular tension. As a kid my arms would get so tight I would start crying and couldn't get the muscle to relax. As a teen muscular tension caused me to lose the ability to turn my head at all for several days. When I was pregnant my calves got so tight it felt like the muscle was ripping from the bones and I'd wake screaming. Lately my gluteus muscles are getting tight after exercise and not releasing (days later) so it feels like I am sitting on two boulders its very uncomfortable.
I do yoga, I take walks, I am not an overly stressed person (most people would even say laid back). I've tried visualizing, squeezing then relaxing. Any ideas as to why my body tightens up so much (its awful in my neck and shoulders, causes numbness sometimes I can't even lift my arms)? Any techniques for relaxing? I really prefer altering diet and exercise to meds. I am not overly muscular, I am very feminine curvy, not flabby but certainly not ripped and am likely in the healthy normal range of body fat.
