In January I got a fever around 104. I went to the doctor and was told I had might have Rhinosinus Virus which had been going around in adults. He gave me some antibiotics and told me to take mucinex. The mucinex made me feel extremely odd, out of it, largely dilated eyeballs. Three of four days after taking the mucinex and antibiotics I woke up in the middle of the night with my body shaking back and forth for about 5-10 seconds unable to stop myself, but I was aware. I got out of bed, woke up my parents, and noticed that my legs felt weird. They started to kick and move on their own and were extremely weak. I couldn't squat down very far. I went to the ER. They told me I didn't have a seizure because I was aware. They told me I might have had a reaction to the medication, something related to sleepwalking, but they were rather unclear. They said it should go away and to go the neurologist if it didn't. After going to the ER I went home and every time I would try to fall asleep for the next 24 hours or so I would shake myself awake fairly violently the second I would fall asleep, so I essentially couldn't fall asleep. That went away after a few days but I still had other symptoms. My muscles would twitch all over my body constantly, especially at night making it hard to fall asleep. I was also very dizzy for quite 3-4 weeks, and it took a very long time for my pupils to return to normal it seemed like. I was also very weak, it was hard to walk. My muscles were very weak seeming. I went to my primary doctor, and to the neurologist. I had lots of bloodwork done, MRI of head and spine, and an EEG. They couldn't find anything physically wrong with me. The neurologist said maybe it could be anxiety. His assistant said maybe I had a mild case of meningitis because it wouldn't show up on the tests like most of the other possible things would. Now, about 3 months later, I am able to walk normally and go to classes again. However I still have symptoms. When I bend forward, bend down, even right now if I do an imaginary bicep curl with no weight in my hand my muscles/body shake. It is extremely frustrating. I can't workout because my body shakes. On rare occasion my involuntary leg twitching has come back too. It makes it feel hard to walk, almost as if the tendons in the back of my leg are very tight and awkward feeling, and if they get tighter they will start kicking on their own again. Also, once prior to the fever in January I had noticed a small shake in my body when doing a pull up that seemed weird feeling to me. I had recently come off of an antidepressant. I know sometimes they can cause illicit responses such as increased anxiety, as I seem to have felt after that. I have more unfounded guilt and OCD thoughts than I had prior. At this point I don't feel like I am getting better any longer. The muscle shaking on any exertion drives me crazy, as I can do hardly anything. If anyone has any ideas, and if you think it is an anxiety reaction or an anxiety + body stress from sickness reaction, etc thanks for your help!
