I've been experiencing a number of problems for several months and still cannot get a diagnosis.

The most prevalent problem is the overall swelling of my body, hands and feet. My feet have swollen severely for months, and now the skin is calloused and cracked. When the swelling goes down, my feet are wrinkled and shriveled. My abdomen was so swollen this morning, I had difficultly finding a shirt that fit.

I am in constant pain, particularly in my legs. It hurts to walk, to bend, to stand and sometimes even to sit.

I have constipation on a frequent basis.

I am usually in a bad mood and very irritable, which is not normal for myself.

I'm having severe outbreaks of acne all over my entire body and large blood filled boils forming on my inner thighs.

Since the beginning of the swelling, I have gained a total of 50 pounds. My weight has been consistent for a number of years.

To date, my blood has been tested for Diabetes, Thyroid, Liver and Kidney failure

I've had an ultrasound of my abdomen that found nothing

An MRI found that I have an excess of stool built up. I was advised by my doctor to take a laxative, which was inneffective.

I've had an echo cardiogram which found nothing.

I get some relief from OTC water pills and from Metamucil on occasion. The swelling is normally the worst by the end of the day. I have found that it doesn't matter if I sit or walk all day, the swelling is all the same.

  • Have you had your heart checked? Swelling could indicate heart failure. I just found the following page on edema(pitting and non pitting).. maybe this willl prove helpful to you http://www.medicinenet.com/edema/article.htm ......................... I suggest taking that Metamusil daily rather than infrequently. It should help prevent your bouts of constipation if you take it daily

Do you have a fecalith? Is fecal mass inflamed or is there an infection? I guess you're taking water pills for the bloating, which is fine except that if you have a stool build up and you take something to get rid of water and water is taken out of the stool that it will become a harder mass. What kind of laxacitive did you take? Have you thought about trying an enema? You also might want to try to drink MORE water. If you are that constipated than you might be dehydrated.

Have you thought about seeing a gastrenterologist and/or Cardiologist? Significant swelling like that could speak of a serious underlying problem. BTW, are you dizzy at all?

  • What about a food allergy like celiac or something? I dunno I'm not a doctor lol. I would just wonder if it is diet related.
