I am a 36 year old woman. When I was 26 I was hospitalized for stroke like symptoms. They never found a dx. When these episodes, which lasted about five years, would start I would be extremely fatigued for a few days before then the right side of my face would paralyze and I had right side leg and arm weakness, severe. My right hand would also tremble. I was dragging my leg with me. It would last months and get somewhat better and come back. Sometimes I started out my day and no paralysis and then it would start any time of the day. It was not bell's palsey. I had every test known to man. No dx. I have recently been dx with hypertension and high cholesterol and was in the hospital in June for a TIA. last week I was dx through an ultra sound, no labs yet, that I have polycystic ovary syndrome. I was wondering if these could all be related. I am also infertile, and didn't know why until the recent dx of PCOS. No children. Went through all of the procedures, drugs, etc. Also staring in my early 20's I began having severe back pain. Higher up toward the kidneys. It radiates into my flanks and stomach. It does not feel like muscle pain. it starts after lying down and intensifies the longer I lay down. It is quite severe pain. I also have bloating of my stomach about three weeks out of the month. I am wondering if this could be an endocrine disorder other than PCOS adn the disorder could have caused my PCOS along iwth the other bizarre symptoms i have had for so many years. All of this and no dx, maybe it is related????? Help!

  • hello< I'm not sure I can help with an answer, but I do have a question, I have recently started with similar systoms, as far as when I lay down I feel like someone has taken a hammer to my lower back in my kidney area. Sleeping at night is a nightmare..what was your diagnosis for that? and what tests were done. I have some other things that have been going on and am working on my 6th doctor for but this with my back is all new..thanks so much missie

  • I have had no dx. I had an x-ray and a pelvic CT scan. I see my family doctor next Thursday and I am going to push the issue. If I ever get an answer I will post it. Thanks for your reply!!! Take care!!

  • my mother had the stroke like symptoms occasionally but they always improved rapidly and also had diabetes. The Doc she had had for years kept calling it ministrokes, and high and low blood sugar.Eventually she had a bigger one and they called in a neurologist and both agreed she had had a huge stroke and would likely not come of off it. The next morning she was pretty much herself again, with no memory of having a problem. An EEG was done and learned she has chronic seizures, that had been causing all her symptoms for years. It has now damaged her brain to the extent that her short term memory is cleared at each seizure, that is more than once a day, and she has to be in a nursing home. It is still difficult to keep the nursing home from sending her to the ER after the bad seizures, as hers do not show up on the outside, and she just appears to go to sleep.
