Well I'm currently abroad in the UK, originally from Australia and up until now I've been relatively well. Recently I've slowly developed a few health issues which are plaguing me, I've been to a GUM clinic and had general STD tests (they couldn't find veins to do a blood test but I had one before I left home) I've been generally run down lately and not eating properly. I've also just gone on the contraceptive patch (1 1/2 weeks ago)

So I've had a rash which has been developing for a month large'ish pimple like itchy red bumps where clothing rubs mainly around the underwear line which graduated to smaller pimple like bumps all over my upper thighs and has spread to my lower legs, tummy, arms and a few on my face, they are small single bumps which are not clustered and are itchiest at night. I've been taking anti-histamines as suggested by the walk in clinic nurse who had no idea what they were. I've also had a UTI and got tested at the walk in clinic where apparently there were no indications of a UTI, never-the-less I was prescribed anti-biotics and will start to take them this morning. Meanwhile overnight I've developed a thrush like itching in my vagina, I haven't even started on the anti-biotics yet! Also since beginning the contraceptive patch I've been bleeding for 6/12 days, coupled with abdominal cramping.

Generally I've just been not feeling pleasant!
Thanks for any feedback, tips or advice!
S.

  • Hello,It sounds to me that your having bad reactions to your contraception patch.I heard they were dangerous and I would do my research if I were you. If your feeling that bad let your doctor know if he/she dont know already mabey you can get treatedor just plainly taken off of that patch. Good Luck.

  • sounds like a possible herpes case...they can't find my veins either...you need an expert to draw the blood...they get mine in my hand after running it under hot water..you either get the "pimple" scraped if it has not dried up or you have to do the blood test for herpes 2..sounds like you got a couple of STDs or yeast and herpes...but for the face bumps, perhaps shingles if one sided, but it could just be a really wild case of herpes throughout the blood stream...and, it could be a reaction to the patch. I vote for taking the patch off and see if the symptoms clear up, along with some painful blood tests...be sure and drink like a half gallon of water before getting the blood draw...

  • Really no one here has been of any help,I can't be an STD I've been tested, that microwave thing sounds rather far fetched. The UTI and thrush have cleared but but I attribute them to the patch, the rash however keeps plaguing me despite being on anti-histamines (for 4 days) cucumber and aloe vera also fails to clear it up. The rash has been around since 3 weeks prior to starting the patch, so a total of 1 months and a week now and could not be an STD as it covers my whole body, I have had it checked by a doctor and they had no idea. Thanks

  • It is possible for you to have a UTI with a urine sample coming back clean. If your UTI is more extensive (like within the walls of your bladder), an ultrasound and urine sample might show nothing. This can cause cramping, pain, etc. However, it sounds like you might be having a bad reaction to the patch however. It would be worth researching the side effects of the patch, or seeing if stopping it causes your symptoms to go away. You might consider seeing a urologist if you are still having strange UTI like symptoms. Sorry I can't be of more help, but good luck!!

  • they never run the blood test for herpes 2 unless you ask for it, in most cases...so I would be rather doubtful...well...full body rash....chicken pox???...measles???...mrsa virus.....I saw a tv show and the lady had a full body rash. After she died, they scraped one of the rashes and did lab work on it to determine what it was and it was herpes 1..of course, it would have been nice if they scraped it while she was alive....a strange man had kissed her in a bar, but he bit her, which meant that instead of going to the glangion, the herpes went straight into the blood stream, bi-passing the glangion...poor lady...blisters all over her body. If your rash is on one side, it could be shingles. If it is a side effect from the patch, then it's the patch. If it's a food allergy, then you need to get tested for food allergy. If you've been recently exposed to uranium during a nuclear bomb...it could be that too...none of us can know what a "rash" on someone via the internet might be, but rather we can assist you in being persistent with your doctor, who is ultimately responsible for a correct diagnosis.

  • The rash maybe folliculitis.Have you been in any hot tubs lately. If so then the causative organism could be Pseudomonas aeruginosa. If not then it could be Staphylococcus aureus, spread by close bodily contact in most cases. Both can be cleared up by antibiotics.
