mucus on faeces.....help

I have been going to the toilet for the last 10 days, every time i go for a poo, i strain and when i mange to go, there is all mucus surrounding the stools. I do not have any other pain, and i havent changed my diet, i am a 32 yr oild female, and i am not pregnant, any ideas? thanks

  • Sounds like a GI problem. Go to your doctor and tell them about it. You may need blood drawn or a stool sample.

  • I don't know what it is either. You should certainly talk to a doctor and give a stool sample if needed, but my instinct is that it's probably not serious. If you were seeing pus or blood instead of mucus, that would really be something to worry about.

  • From my experience, I do have mucus once awhile especially when I recovered from a flu or when I consumed too much meat and not enough vegetables (fiber) and probiotics. Are your stools sinking or floating? Are they thin and long or fat in diameter? If they are floating and fat, that is a good indicator that your diet has enough fiber.I always look and my stools before I flush. And do drink at least 8-10 glasses of water everyday.Take care
