Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share my symptoms and ask what you guys think..

I am a 22 year old female

These are the episodes I've been having:

June 2007-the whole left side of my body went numb. This lasted about 3 weeks. Everyone suspected I may have had a stroke so I went to the ER-they did a CT scan and tested all of my motor skills-everything came back normal, they sent me home. After the feeling came back my body was so sensitive. ie)I went in a cold lake and it felt like the water was bruising me. I had blood tests done and tested positive for ANA's. After a couple of weeks everything returned to normal.

June 19 2008- Had a baby-- perfectly healthy pregnancy.

August 2008-the left side of my face went completely numb (tongue and all) I felt very tired and dizzy if I over exerted my self-I had to sleep a lot. The feeling returned 3 weeks later.

Mid September 2008-I woke up soo dizzy that I fell down. I could not get out of bed for 2 weeks. I was very sick. When the dizziness went away the right side of my face went numb- I was slurring my speech so badly I didn't want to talk. Again the doctors suspected I was having a mini stroke-I had a CT scan done and many blood tests and the results were normal. The feeling retuned about 3 weeks later.

November 2008-I woke up and my fingers weren't moving the way I wanted them to. I got very scared so i went back to sleep. When I woke up I could not move my fingers hand or arm. They were paralyzed. After a couple of hours I was able to move my arm and hand again. Relieved I continued on as normal. The next morning I woke up and I was paralyzed again-but this time it lasted 2 months. I saw the doctor-he said I was having a stroke and sent me to the hospital. They did a number of tests on me and concluded that I did not have a stroke (they will not do another CT scan on me because of the radiation). I saw a chiropractor because I had a story of a lady with similar symptoms to mine and it was because she had a broken neck. The chiropractor ran a number of tests on me and noticed that when I stuck out my tongue it pointed to the right and that is a sign of nerve damage.

I had an appointment with a neurologist. My arm was back to normal when I saw him. He did all the motorskills tests on my and He thinks I have silent migraines--which do not explain the severity and length of my symptoms at all. He brushed me off, I can see how as I was completely healthy at the moment I saw him.

My newest symptoms are having really anxious feeling whle trying to relax, my hand gets very weak, My hands are shaky and clumsy and I keep getting really short of breath and feeling like fainting..

I am so lost....My mom has MS and some of the symptoms are similar so I am starting to get worried.

I have an MS screen MRI on July 23rd.

Any ideas?:(

  • I am 30yo female. I had tingling numbness in my fingers for weeks and then last Wednesday it progressed to my legs and I was struggling to walk. I was also having problems eating and had lost weight. Went to ER did blood test it was normal. Went to doctor the next day and she ordered MRI to test for MS. Friday had the MRI. Yesterday found out it was normal. So I don't have MS but I am still wondering why I am having these symtoms. Sorry you are struggling. I hope you can get a diagnosis soon. Why the long wait to get MRI? I got mine right away.

  • I am not sure why it took so long to schedule an MRI. It has been booked since January. I guess the wait times are long in Canada for MRI's. Plus it's at a private clinic. That may have something to do with it. I suppose in my case they don't see my case as an emergency.
