Well i am back on today. I have had 6 MRI's and changed Dr.'s and today I got a call to confirm more MRI's from the Dr. I no longer see. I did not know anyone even looked at my last 2. I assummed my new Dr. would be the first. I was told they went to my old Dr. and he requested more MRI's after reviewing them.
Any ideas why I would need more after 6.
I have had 2 Brain, 2 Cervical, T-spine and Lumbar. All after being hit in the face while looking up by a 5-8 pound box.
Isn't that alot of radiation for one person?

  • I don't know about the radiation, but it does seem a lot of MRI's. Have you asked why your Dr thinks you need yet another one?

  • as i remember, MRIs do not admit radiation, well not nearly as much as a x-ray. ***n ive seen that x-ray machine to many times in my life :D

  • However it might be a total waste of money (if this is relevant for you) having a MRI that is not needed.

  • MRIs don't expose you to much radiation- they use strong magnetic fields and radio waves. CT scans, on the other hand expose you to X-rays, which are bad for you.MRIs are bad because they are expensive- thousands of dollars each. This leaves you with a large co-pay if you have one, and it jacks up the cost of everyone's insurance in the long run if they are ordered too often without good cause.CT scans are cheaper, but each study is used for different kinds of things.I hope they got some useful information from your MRIs.Best Wishes & sorry you got hit by the box.

  • Well thank you for all the comments.I went to a new Dr. yesterday and he does not know why my old Dr. would request even more MRI's. He said I need a Neurologist as he beleives all my problems are nerve related. He never said anything about getting physical therapy for my Herniated Dics. and could not giveme any medications or at least release me to go to work. He said he does not do meds or release for work that he is just a one time consult Dr. for my Attorney and the state.I am getting no income and no one will release me to try to work to pay my bills or give me any straight anwsers. Said he will send his report to my attorney and Workers comp in about a week. I got a job offer so I do not know if I should just take it and take Advil for pain so I can at least earn some kind of income or just sit home and wait for my next appointment in about 2-3 weeks. Why do attorneys, Dr's etc. keep you in the dark when it is about you in the first place as a patient shouldn'e I be told everything first??Any ideas.
