I have been diagnosed with SLE for 15 yrs but have only had one positive
ANA and that was only 1:60 and SS DNA antibodies with low complement.
My kidney biopsy showed mesangial nephritis on initial diagnosis. I was
diagnosed with lupus nephritis initially. I have never been below 20 mg
of prednisone since diagnosis & have failed all conservative txs including
2 yrs of iv cytoxan, 2 doses of ic rituxan. CD4 Ligand experimental tx
and have been worked up for a stem cell transplant, passed 2 work ups
but rheumatologist said it's a salvage procedure and shouldn;t have it.
What other options do I have to get rid of this dreadful disease ??? I;m 56 y/o
and RN who can't work in my specialty NICU or in an acute setting due to
my immune suppression. I'd like to reclaim my life & my insurance co
even approved the transplant. What are my options to get this stem cell
transplant while I'm still young enough to have a life ???
Thanks for any insight you can give me
