  • Hi I would simply get a Chest X-ray as the very first thing to do. I would also get some blood tests done - full blood count, Iron studies, CRP, ESR as a start If these come back within the normal range from your GP (family doctor) I would consult a respiratory doctor to check you out for asthma. Also you may have reflux disease - this is a common cause of chronic cough and this should be treated with Zanatac or proton pump inhibitors. There are many asthma medicines that may help you - but you need to find out what is causing your problems and pain - the work up by your GP and then the specialist would be the most recommended route of investigations - the chest- X ray is 100% required and should be done ASAP. Best of luck

  • Put some eucalyptus oil where you will inhale it. For example, put some on each end of your pillow each night before going to bed.

My daughter had the same kinds of symptoms and after going to the doctor was put on Nexium for severe gastric reflux.

I live in the northwest where molds are prevelent. I have seen a lung specialist who thought it was asthma. Then I asked if you can have asthma on just one side, and he paused and looked puzzled. He sent me for some tests after that, but they all came back normal. Everytime I am exposed to someone's cold, I immediately feel like I have bronchitis. Eventually it clears up to a mild cough then but never goes away. I was on blood pressure meds, and the doc said to try going off them, as they can cause chronic cough. But it did not improve when I went off them. And it all started when I worked in a very old wood building with a leaking roof, and I caught a severe cough from a co-worker. I always wondered if there was mold I was allergic to in that building that led to bronchial damage. I hope someone has a better answer. I still don't know what it is.
