I quit smoking 3 months ago using chantix. I have not been on the perscription in the last 3 weeks. I gained 15 pounds. I walk 3 miles a day and only eat salads and fruit in the last 3 weeks. I cannot lose a pound. I am always tired I even take a nap on my lunch break every day. The worst of all is this weird taste I get right before I need to take a bowel movement. After I go The taste goes away. Any idea what that is? Also can you recommend a good vitamin for more energy. I am a 40 year old female. I cannot have caffeine so that limits some vitamins. Also why am I not losing weight? I am working my butt off. And even though I should be happy I quit smoking I am still misserable!!! Thanks

  • Chantix can give you a odd taste when used with certain vitamins, herbals, asthma and insulin. You have just weaned yourself off of a very powerful drug (nicotine). Give yourself some time to heal and get your metabolism back in sync. Nicotine speeds up the metabolism, so when you stop and your metabolism slows down, you will gain weight. Don't diet and exercise too strenuously. Be kind to yourself. You have just kicked a habit-forming drug more insidious than heroin. Eat right, drink plenty of water, get your teeth cleaned then practice really good oral health. Floss daily. Don't become constipated and eat plenty of fiber.

I have spoken to my doctor he has had me give a blood sample so they can check my thyroid. I am awaiting the results. I think I jumped the gun. I honestly don't think it's my thyroid. I don't think I have any health issues. This is what i think. I think I'm tired in the am because I don't get my nic fix. I think I gained weight because thats just what happens when you quit. I think I'm not losing weight because I'm not eating enough carbs to lose weight and my body is ammune to excersise because I have had the same routine for so many years. I think the taste in my mouth is acids from all the salad and fruit I've been eating almost like an acid reflux. So my plan is I have stopped salad I have stopped fruit because my body isn't use to those extra carbs. Iam eating low carb protein based healthy dinners and I have tripled my excercise routine. And last but not least I am going to take your advice from your wonderful pick me up note and be proud that I have succeeded in beating a habit that would have given me more problems than these. So Thank You very much for your pick me up letter.
