i visited Gabon, which is a country in Africa and was down with malaria. I got treatment from the hospital, oral medicine by the commercial name coartem 20/120 mg. and was told that after the 3 days course, I would be cured. I am back to Malaysia but still have bad stomach and tinglish feeling in my arms. but my bloodtest shown negative, do I continue with the second course of coartem, my heart beat goes up to 100 when I take this medication.

Try visiting a Oriental Medical practitioner. Chinese herbal medicine can be very helpful for malaria and post malarial symptoms. Best wishesDOM

  • And if that chinese herbalist suggests a remedy from the Artemisia annua plant guess what, its Coartem. Most, if not all antimalarials have side effects.Just cause you got a negitive test DOES not mean your cured, That pesky parasite is good at hiding.A slightly elevated heart rate vs a parasite that might take years to get rid of.Good luck Regards

Regards, KK Chin Chinese herbal medicine in general will have much fewer and less severe side effects than Western pharmaceuticals. Best to visit a trained herbalist who can recommend appropriate formulas. Chinese medicine almost always uses a combo of herbs, rather than a single herb like artemesia. They work synergistically together. Best wishesDOM
