Female, 38 years old. Have Crohn's, Celiac, Reactive Arthritis, Asthma,
Been living with chronic illness most my life.

Caught swine flu in October 2009, five surgies later, colostomy in Jan - emergency hystorectmy after giagantic complex benign cystic olvery tumor found, auto immune is going crazy. Rejecting biologic drugs, just taken off 6-mp. Poor wound healing, major body flushing, joint problems, overall major severe inflammation that spreads through out body and then conscintrated around stoma and adominal wound. Also extreme fatigue attacks.

Being referred to Mayo clinic, but starting to feel like major problem has gone undiagnosed all these years, and all my diseases are symptons of unknown snydrome. Just want to know if anyone else out there has had simular issues since swine flu. Or anyone with rare autoimmune syndromes that then have diseases as symptons when left undiagnosed for most of live.

  • Hello jj4christ,Unfortunately, you are one of the examples ofimpotence of modern medicine. Actually thereare a lot of such sad examples, because doctorscan not understand the simple thing that thehuman body is integral complex system. Theycan not treat because they do not have a"system thinking". I suppose, most of symptomeslisted by you have only one or two causes.I'm sorry about you, but I think you can getyour health much better. At least a vast partof your health problems can be solved. If you need my help, just let me know, maybe I could help you.

I am not looking for an instant cure. I have had excellent doctors and care, especially this past year. Without the proper care I would have died several times this past year. I know we can get my heath better, I have no doubts about that. All of the symptoms I shared share the common thread of auto immunity or an abnormal immune response. Just posted to find others who maybe dealing with escalation of inflammation or autoimmune responses after surviving swine flu. Doctors and scientist have not a full understanding of how that virus behaves in those with autoimmune illnesses. I have confidence that the mayo clinic will be able to indentfy what is going on. Thanks for your concern but I am looking for others like me or are familar with these issues. Not for instant cures. Because the answers to these problems are not simple ones because the human body is complex and difficult at times to understand.

  • Do you know about this? http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_106170.html Thank you for the information. That was interesting reading indeed. Wish it could help right now, but my Crohn's symptoms related to my gut are ok, Sed rate and CBC came back normal. Waiting still for Mayo Clinic referral to be completed. I think something is going on with my hypothalamus, endocrine, or lymph node systems combination of these. Major problems with sleep regulation, body temp, skin inflammation with intense itching, excessive adominal adhessions and wound not healing. Going on a wound vac. Look forward to a team running tests that will be more focused, the the generalized tests that have been done and come back inconclussive.
