Day 1- Woke up with painfull neck with pain on top of head when turning.
Day 2- Same with addition of uncontrolable shakes/chills. That nite
woke up drenched, not sweats but like I jumped into the pool
with my PJ's on. Another round of shakes also. Shakes last
about an hour.
Day 3- Same with addition of discomfort with a deep inhale.
Day 4- Go to DR and shakes begin in his office. Takes blood, urine and
prescribes doxycycline 100MG,2x a day.
Day 5- Same, all test come back negative.
Day 6 to present(day 9) no shakes or sweats. Some improvement in
neck. Chest discomfort same.
I went thru these same symtoms 5 years ago, spent 4 days in the hospital, had a spinal and after no positive test results spent the next 30 days on doxycycline. Dr says tick born.

  • I think your doctor has a good idea. With the neck pain, shakes, fever, sweats and breathing issues, I would look at Babesia. I think you might need a different medication though. Doxy is great for Lyme (although I have "heard" that only 200mg may just keep it under raps, but not get rid of it)... but Babesia is another matter. Mepron and Zithromax are often standard treatment for Babesiosis. Hope you have insurance as Mepron is expensive. If you have to go on it, online Canadian pharmacies have it for about half price. You could very well have both Lyme and Babesia, so testing at Igenex might be a really GOOD idea. You want to make your fight a calculated one. Here are a couple of links you can go from here: CALDA - California Lyme Disease Association Lyme Disease Network If you have had this before... it could mean that you fought if off before, but never got rid of it. Some people have Babesiosis and are asymptomatic others have minimal symptoms and some have more intense symptoms. Some people can fight off Lyme until they get their immune systems weakened by an emotional, physical or other stressful experiences. Illness or just emotional upset can weaken our immune systems just enough to allow bacteria to get a foothold. Good luck and keep us informed how you are doing.
