Started getting what I thought was a urinary tract infection 2 days ago so started taking some meds, then yesterday realised it didnt burn when i went to the toilet but just constantly stings, so thought it might be a yeast infection instead! Started taking some pills that have worked in the past and also used a cream as a soothing agent. Later in the evening, my groin on the left side became tender and then I noticed a small lump on the left side of my labia. The right side is fine. This morning I woke up to another lump next to the original one and several smaller ones this time on the vulva itself. It really stings and is uncomfortable to sit.:(

I currently have a cold and was wondering if the lymph nodes in groin swelling has anything to do with this...if so, what are the lumps and the stinging related to.

I havent had sex in about 2 weeks, so am worried, confused and live in China where I dont fancy going to see a doctor!

Any help much appreciated.

  • I think you need to be tested for STD's im not all that sure but i believe flu symptoms is common with an outbreak of herpes which can also appear to be similar to UI and yeast infections until swelling's appear. You need to be checked

  • Well after reading you thinking it could be herpes, i read up about it, and the symptoms do sound similar and it did say that bumps would be noticeable at about two weeks after las sexual contact, which is exactly right for me. So now Im worried about this! I hate going to the doctor about these kinds of problems. But I had prbably best not go to the pharmacy here and try and buy sth for what could possibly not be the right diagnosis. I will be going home actually in three days time, so will make an appointment with doc asap. But still wondering about the swelling in left groin?

  • That would be a lymph node and infections make them swell herpes is an infection. Dont be too stressed about it many people have herpes as long as you practice safe sex then any of your partners will be protected and if someone you have sex with has herpes they can cause an outbreak in you if they have a current outbreak and you have herpes in your system. It isnt wise to think that because we both have it is ok. If it turns out not to be herpes you should still practice safe sex im a strong believer in it doesnt matter how long i have been with someone he is still wearing a condom it doesnt matter how much i trust the person. Unless you are trying for a baby there is really no reason not to use one it's the safest option for everyone.

  • I remember going to the doc with my boyf here in China a couple of years ago as the left side of his face stopped functioning! We thought he may have had a stroke, but the doc told him he was ok and gave him a course of antibiotics. Being a chinese doctor she noticed things that a western doc may not, and she said he had a small red dot in his ear and that that is a sign of herpes, but not to worry about it. We joked of course from then on that he had herpes, but didnt really believe that a tiny red dot would really show that much. Now it seems the joke is on me! Maybe he did have herpes, maybe he is a carrier and thats how i have got it. Who knows?Thankyou for being so calm when describing my symptoms, it has soothed my nerves a little to have an idea at least as to what it may be. Was reading that the general rule of thumb is that if a pain comes along suddenly that it is usually an infection of somesort and it is the lingering painless growths that are more to be worried about, so heres hoping it can be cleared up soon! Just got to get over my embarrassment and head to the doctor in a few days time!Again, thank you.

  • he can have it and not have any symptoms, thereby passing it unknowlingly on to you..you will need a blood test or if you still have a sore, that will be analyzed. You might need anti-virals if your symtoms bother you too much...

  • rather than worrying over herpes yet you could be having a bartholin cyst instead. Or a sebaceous cyst that will swell, have more than one "head" to it and can have muliple. A round of antibiotics can do the trick for you.The begin as a small hard bump, swelling next, redness, and pain/tenderness to the area.Women have them especially from shaving the area and causes a nick in the skin or damage to the hair root or even tight rubbing clothing can help promote these.I have had them, no I did not have herpes, no sexual contacts in a LONG time, my gyn explained to me what what happening and sometimes if they reoccur you have to have the cyst sack surgically removed.Sorry for the spelling but I leave spell check at my office!!
