:confused:MY EIGHT YEAR OLD SON HAS A LUMP ON THE SIDE OF HIS HEAD ABOVE HIS EAR AND ABOUT TWO INCHES IN DIAMETER.IT IS ON THE BONE WHICH STICKS OUT A BIT ANYWAY AND IS NOT THAT PROMINENT BUT IS THERE.
HE HAS HAD THIS FOR NEARLY A MONTH AND HAS BEEN SEEN BY THREE DOCTORS .IN WEEK 2 HE HAD A CONTINUAL HEADACHE AND VERY DISTURBED SLEEP SO I PANICKED A BIT.
ALL THE DOCTORS CHECKED FOR NEUROLOGICAL SYMPTOMS (NO SCANS)BUT COULDNT FIND ANY AND TOLD ME TO COME BACK IN 2 WEEKS.I WILL BE GOING BACK AT THE END OF THIS WEEK.
HIS HEAD IS SORE IF PRESSED BUT NOT SO TENDER THAT IT HURTS WITH SLIGHT TUOCH.
HE IS COMPLAINING THAT IT HURTS ABOVE THE LUMP TOO.THE DOCS SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A HEMATOMA THAT WOULD SETTLE EVENTUALLY.
ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?THANKS.

  • THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHT,BUT MY SON DOES NOT HAVE A MOBILE PHONE.WHEN I FIRST TOOK HIM TO THE DOC APPROX 9 DAYS AFTER ARRIVAL OF LUMP,THEY THOUGHT IT MAY BE AN INFECTION AS IT FELT A LITTLE WARM.SO THEY PUT HIM ON ANTIBIOTICS FOR 5 DAYS BUT THIS DID NOTHING.THEN CAME THE PERSISTANT HEADACHES WHICH HAVE NOW GONE .HE SEEMS WELL IN HIMSELF BUT THE LUMP IS STILL THERE AND IS STILL TENDER DIRECTLY ON IT AND ABOVE IT NOW.I HAVE MADE AN APPT FOR FRIDAY AND I WILL SEEK A REFERRAL AS SURELY ITS NOT NORMAL TO HAVE A LUMP FOR SO LONG.HE IS ADAMANT THAT HE DID NOT BANG IT BUT THE DOCS SAY HIS AGE THEY SOMETIMES DONT NOTICE THESE BANGS.WISH IT WOULD JUST GO AWAY.

  • If it doesn't go away soon, ask to have it biopsied.

  • Did you ever find out what the lump is? I think I have the same thing. I've been getting headaches & migraines, and the lump hurts really bad if I press on it but it also has sharp spiratic pains as well.
