I am a 43 year ols male. I saw my GP today for a lump in left supraclavicular area. He believes it is a lipoma and sent me for lab work to start. He didn't seem to be too concerned but then gave me a full physica including urine sample, blood labs and a prostate exam. He told me I have an enlarged prostate and wants to see me next week to discuss the results from the labs. The lump is about 4 cm and is pretty firm yet moveable. It is just above the collarbone and in the middle of the clavicular area. it is not painful, but I do have itching in my chest shoulder and neck. Is there a possibility this is a swollen lymph node? Thanks!

  • Thanks. My GP did not find any irregularities in my blood work and told me not to worry. He believes that the lump is a lipoma. I do not have night sweats and I haven't lost any weight. He said those are two factors to keep an eye on if I suspect any issues with my lymph system. He did not biopsy the lump. He does want to monitor my blood quarterly. Any additional thoughts?

  • Hello :)Is the lump below your left clavicle or is it behind your clavicle? Usually lymphnodes are behind the clavicle or you could say under. Where as below your clavicle are things like your first ribs, muscles etc. I actually have the same thing. Except mine causes pain. I feel like it is also causing my back pain on the left side. Do you get any back pains? you said no pain with the lump correct? The good thing is that he found nothing abnormal in your tests and that it is not painful. From reading your post, it doesnt seem like they confirmed the lipoma. If you feel like you want to go for an ultrasound, ultrasounds could tell you if its fluid filled or not. Basically it can detect a lipoma. Now if it doesn't show up, you would be on the same page as I and we could work together on it. Lipomas as you probably know already are not harmful. Many people have lipomas. So if its that, that would be great news for you :) Im just glad you're not in pain but definitely be aware with those symptoms your doc told you about. (night sweats etc) Also, did your doc do a test for you on vitamins? Ask him to check for your vitamins (like vitamin D) and anything else you would want to check for. For your prostate, maybe look into this:http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/5-vitamins-for-prostate-health.htmlVitamins are very very very important. :)
