I am a 26 year old female. I started losing hair 6 months ago, and at the time it came out literally in handfuls. It was a few months after i had a nervous breakdown and extreme anxiety/depression. I was nearly bald near the top of my head. I had several blood tests done, my thyroid is in check, my hormones were normal, yet i had not had a period in almost a year for some reason. My cycle just started back last month for the first time in a year. I am a normal weight, eat very healthfully, high protein, take lots of vitamins, including hair, skin and nails vitamins, I take in more than enough calories, so my diet is not causing the problem. Thankfully enough time has gone by where new hairs are growing in, however i am still slowly losing hair! I cannot get it to stop and I am embarrassed to go out in public, i am embarrassed to brush my hair because so much falls out when i do, it's just awful. I have been using Women's Rogaine to try to help it, but it hasn't done anything. I don't know what to do and my primary care doctor, OB/GYN, and endocrinologist all can not tell me what is wrong, they just keep going back to checking thyroid levels which is wasting my time because the results always come back normal (i do take thyroid for hypothyroidism). Has anyone ever suffered massive hair loss, especially after a trauma type situation in their life? How long did it last? I want the hair loss to just STOP so new hair can grow back in normally!!! Please help!!!
